Explore Your New Central Library
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the thousands of residents who took the time to share their thoughts, hopes and dreams, which informed the library’s design.
Traditional First Nations and Métis architecture inspire the design concept for the central library. Its design and site placement adhere to Indigenous principles, ensuring a connection between the building and its natural surroundings. The abundance of natural light, combined with the warmth of the wood and the incorporation of plants, creates an inviting and welcoming atmosphere. The colours chosen for the interior and furniture reflect Saskatchewan’s natural landscape, incorporating its colours and textures. The many windows will take full advantage of the stunning prairie sky.
Led by First Nations architect Alfred Waugh, the library has been collaboratively designed by Canadian architects Formline Architecture + Urbanism, Chevalier Morales Architectes and Architecture49, with construction handled by Ledcor Construction.
