Library Spaces

The new central library has been purposefully designed to both honour our roots and embrace the future, delivering familiar library services alongside an array of innovative spaces and offerings.

Since 1913, our mission has been to inspire lifelong learning and support the development of literacy skills. The central library will provide inclusive spaces that promote learning, creation and discovery. We have reimagined Local History, the Children’s Story Room and The Gallery for emerging artists. We have also introduced many new spaces, including a quiet area for study, a demonstration kitchen, vibrant spaces for hands-on learning, areas that promote group collaboration, and rooms of various sizes to host speakers, performances and oral storytelling.

Innovation spaces from an audio production studio and 3D printer to video production studio and video gaming spaces will attract students, job seekers, aspiring artists, creators, musicians, writers and entrepreneurs of all ages. Whatever you want to learn, and however you want to learn it, your new central library will create limitless opportunities.

And, of course, we will also have plenty of space for more books! Click the buttons below for a floor-by-floor overview of what you can expect when the library opens its doors.
