Level 2

The second level features the children’s library, creation and innovation spaces and a dedicated teen area.

Amenities include various seating options, public washrooms, public computers, study carrels, laptop lending, water fountains with bottle fillers, and printing, copying and faxing services. There are also catalogue computers and quick-checkout machines available.

Children’s Library

The Children’s Library is partially separated from adjacent spaces while remaining highly visible and easily accessible. It includes family washrooms.

Story Room

Upon entering the children’s story room, children and their caregivers will be immersed in a whimsical world that inspires imagination and wonder, reminiscent of The Hundred Acre Wood from the Winnie the Pooh stories.

Reading Nest

Nestled in the south peak, kids can cozy up and read in this special feature of the children’s library.

Play Space

The play space is designed for children ages 0 to 10 and serves as a screen-free zone focused on hands-on and interactive play activities. It includes various nooks with age-specific activities such as a STEAM wall, role-playing, a tipi, LEGO® blocks, floor games and manipulatives.

Art & Craft Lab

This area is open and available for children and their caregivers while they visit the library. It is filled with all the craft supplies kids need to let their creativity flow.

Innovation & Creation Spaces

 

Production Studios

The production studios are technology-driven hub featuring a visual recording studio, audio recording studio, recording booth and a post-production studio.

Makerspace

The Makerspace is a hands-on area for various hands-on activities, including sewing and 3D printing.

Digitization & Design Lab

Stations provide access to graphic design computers and digitization tools for converting film, slides, negatives, VHS, CDs and DVDs to digital formats.

Gaming

Collections

This area also houses the STEAM kits, Discovery Pass, CD, DVD, sheet music, audiobook and game collection as well as an office for a Creator-in-Residence.

Creator-in-Residence

This residency program connects aspiring creators with industry experts to nurture creativity and explore new ideas and innovations.

Teen

In addition to the teen collection, this area offers individual study carrels, computers, group study booths and casual seating along the windows.
